The alternate world depicted in For All Mankind changed course when the Soviet Union arrived on the moon before the United States. The storyline of the show has changed as a result of this significant incident, which we will now see unfold.

Apple TV+ has revealed exciting news: For All Mankind will return for its fifth season, accompanied by a spinoff titled Star City, which will offer the Soviet perspective, beginning with their historic lunar victory over America.

The streaming service has officially renewed its drama series For All Mankind for its fifth season. Additionally, Apple TV+ has given the green light to a spinoff series titled Star City, created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi.

According to reviews, Star City is a suspenseful thriller about paranoia that explores a crucial period in the parallel history of the space race: the Soviet Union’s historic lunar landing. This time around, the story takes place behind the Iron Curtain and offers a glimpse into the lives of engineers, cosmonauts, and intelligence agents working on the Soviet space program. The show examines the dangers they took in order to further humanity’s pursuit of development.

Since its debut as part of Apple’s lineup in late 2019, For All Mankind has become a favorite among critics and viewers alike. The drama holds an impressive 93 percent rating from critics and an 82 percent score from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. (Apple doesn’t share traditional viewership numbers, so it’s unclear how many people watch its content.)

For All Mankind is the second Apple original series to get a spinoff. The news comes shortly after Apple renewed Monarch: Legacy of Monsters for a second season and announced multiple spinoffs in the works as part of a larger deal with Legendary Entertainment.

Wolpert and Nedivi, alongside Moore and Maril Davis from Tall Ship Productions, are not only showrunners but also executive producers for Star City. They fulfill the same roles for For All Mankind, which they also oversee as showrunners. Additionally, David Weddle, Bradley Thompson, Seth Edelstein, and Kira Snyder serve as executive producers for For All Mankind. Both shows are produced by Sony Pictures Television for Apple TV+.
